It's hard to believe we're approaching the end of the Inkubator's first publication year. Our mission has been to help new constructors develop toward mastery by providing resources and mentoring on the way to publication in the Inkubator and beyond. Many of the bylines we've featured have been debuts and close-to-debuts. Allies in the puzzle world have supported inclusion so tangibly that it has sometimes been a race to see who can debut a new talent! We've felt supremely honored as well to showcase the creations of more seasoned constructors, folks who've worked with numerous editors and who could teach us a thing or two (or ten).
Solvers, you've helped develop the Inkubator's voice and refine our editing strategies with supportive feedback about sour notes and satisfying moments. We would not be here without you. We're grateful to be a part of this community doing this work, and we hope we've delivered puzzles you enjoyed and will remember.
And so we come to the season finale, a challenging freestyle by rising star Wyna Liu. Wyna is an artist and jewelry maker from NYC. She recently began assisting the editor of the American Values Club crossword and is super pumped about it. Her puzzles and collaborations appear in AVCX, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Newsday's Saturday Stumper, and the upcoming installment of The Crossword Show (January '20), among other venues. When she's not thinking about crosswords, she teaches yoga and helps out at her family's radio business. Her hobbies include learning new fabrication methods (most recently neon) and annoying her dog, Polo. Find her work on Instagram at @wynaliu, and at wynaliu.com.
