Puzzle Notes

Dear friends,

02/20/2020 is a lovely date to behold. Consider its even numbers and round numbers, unfolding in a sequence that could be a segment of some binary code, a secret code composed of gorgeous twos and wholesome zeros. This may be a code that wants you to unlock its secret, much like a puzzle. And lo, today's bonus Inkubator puzzle, by the infinitely creative Mary Lou Guizzo, is equally lovely to behold. We think you'll find it moderately challenging as well as pleasing to the eye.

Mary Lou worked for many years in hospital Transfusion Services and Blood Centers, Processing and Reference Labs and a Paternity Lab. She graduated from the University of Dayton and has a Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB). Her hobbies have included photography, reading, bicycling, hiking, swimming, and traveling. She enjoys spending time with her husband and family. In recent years she has cared for her grandson, who has completely captured her heart. She's published puzzles in many venues including the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, the Wall Street Journal, Gannett newspapers, Universal Crosswords and the CrossWord Club. Her first puzzle appeared in print in 2013.

When you're done solving, check out Diary of a Crossword Fiend for a write-up and discussion, every Friday after an Inkubator puzzle is published.
