Puzzle Notes

Dear friends,

We're delighted to be publishing this playful puzzle by a dynamic duo: Amy Schecter and Christina Iverson. We think you'll find it challenging!

This is Amy's first puzzle for The Inkubator and second published puzzle ever. She is a retired Broadway casting director who lives in NYC. She started solving puzzles with her mom eons ago, but only got interested in construction two years ago after making birthday puzzles for her friends. She attributes her love of words to a childhood spent watching The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show -- special shout out to "Fractured Fairy Tales" and Mr. Peabody (the beagle) and Sherman (his pet boy) with their WABAC machine!

Christina is a stay at home mom to a 2 1/2 year old son, and a daughter born in May. Besides her relatively recent obsession with crosswords, she loves reading, and biking or walking pretty much everywhere she goes in Ames, Iowa.

When you're done solving, check out Diary of a Crossword Fiend for a write-up and discussion, every Friday after an Inkubator puzzle is published. For general updates, follow us on twitter at @InkubatorXWords, and visit our website. Thanks to all of our subscribers for your continuing support, feedback, and kindness!

And if you want a little more Inkubator in your life, pick up the latest copy of Marie Claire magazine! Starting with the Fall 2020 issue, we are collaborating with Marie Claire to publish dynamite puzzles by women. Our debut puzzle is "Good as Hell" by Juliana Tringali Golden. This issue also features Chrissy Teigen on raising women's voices, a closer look at guaranteed income, and the female execs making work-from-home happen.

Coming up next, on September 24: Catherine Cetta takes us for a winding walk outside.

All best,
Laura, Tracy, Juliana, and Stella
