October 7, 2021 - "Themeless #24" - by Catherine Cetta

Puzzle NotesDear friends,
We're a bit earlier than usual with this month's themeless, but we think you'll understand why once you solve it. Monday is National [SPOILER!] Day, and Catherine Cetta is here to help us celebrate with this timely 72-word puzzle. We think you'll find it moderately challenging. And by the way, it's our 100th subscription puzzle. Thanks to you and to all our supporters for helping us get to this milestone!
Catherine is a happily retired baby boomer. From a family of women solvers, she credits her mother with engendering her love of words and crosswords. She started constructing in early 2020 and has had puzzles published by several different venues. When she's not trying to think up new ideas for puzzles, she is either painting, gardening, playing tennis, or enjoying doing something active in the outdoors. She lives on Cape Cod with her partner, Julie, of 32 years and their cat, Dolly.
With our 100th puzzle comes another milestone: our managing editor, Juliana Tringali Golden, is stepping down. We are so deeply grateful for all that Juliana has done for the Inkubator since summer 2019, and we will miss her! We look forward to seeing her fantastic constructions here and elsewhere in the puzzling world. Juliana would like to thank the Inkubator team for a phenomenal experience, as well as the subscribers for continuing to support this incredible publication.
And more news: we are very happy to announce that Brooke Husic is joining the Inkubator team as managing editor, beginning this month. Brooke has constructed for the Inkubator, USA Today, the New York Times, Boswords, and -- recently and quite beguilingly -- Lollapuzzoola.
Coming up next, on October 14: Chez Knox brings us some internal contradictions.
